The Glendale Municipal Airport (GEU) is located on approximately 427 acres of property on the western edge of the City of Glendale, Arizona. The airport is approximately six miles to the west of the City of Glendale's central business district. The City of Glendale is part of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area within Maricopa County. Luke Air Force Base is 4 miles directly to the west and is the home of the 56th Fighter Wing and the Air Force Reserve.
The city of Glendale has just begun the process of updating the Airport Master Plan that was last updated in 1997. The Glendale Municipal Airport (GEU) Master Plan Study has been undertaken to evaluate the airport’s capabilities and role, to forecast future aviation demand, and to plan for timely development of new or expanded facilities to meet demand. The ultimate goal of the master plan is to provide systematic guidelines for the airport’s overall development, operation and maintenance.
In addition to the above, the Glendale Municipal Airpoprt (GUE) has also hosted such fun events as hot air balloon launches and flight competitions, US Navy Blue Angels jet demonstrations, US Air Force F-16 demonstrations, rare & historic aircrafts from WWII to Vietnam, night pyro aerobactic flights and traditional evening desert hot air balloon choreographed glows. The Thunderbird Hot Air Balloon Classic has been held on the airfield in previous years like stated above, but was recently moved to the Goodyear Airport.
Glendale Airport is home to numerous light aircraft and several aviation related businesses, two of which are Action Aviation and Glendale Aviation. Glendale Aviation is the Premier Full Service Flight Support Operation in the Metropolitan Phoenix west valley area. An Arizona family owned and operated business since 1993. Glendale Aviation is ideally located to service the Central and West Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Goodyear, Avondale, Litchfield Park, and Sun City areas. The airport is several miles East of Luke Air Force Base, whose aircraft can be seen nearby on occasion. There are no scheduled services available at Glendale, however small charters are available.
